About
This is a specific plan developed for the demands of gravel racing and is aimed at those who are new to gravel or cycling generally, even if you are fairly experienced in another cycling discipline this plan would still benefit you. The training concepts largely remain the same as say road, for instance building a solid aerobic energy system and the ability to resist fatigue, but with some subtle key differences. Clearly the demands of any event are largely dictated by the course and to some extent the competition but in general there is a higher degree of riding skill needed compared to say road. The bike will move differently underneath you with much less grip and predictability. Itβs these aspects that you also want to incorporate into your training. Big watts and fitness will only take you so far, being able to ride offroad fast is just as important, if not more so. With that mind the plan also suggests some technical skills / drills that you should focus on developing in conjunction with your power. These will be included as a separate PDF document. Each drill is then paired with specific phases that will incorporate both the skill and physiological aspects.
